Pike County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Ohio State Highway Patrol , and the Waverly Police Department conducted an OVI Checkpoint on Friday, October 18th, 2024. The checkpoint was held on US 23 in the Village of Waverly from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The OVI checkpoint, funded with federal grants, is used to both deter and intercept impaired drivers and to raise public awareness of the continued problem of impaired driving on our streets and highways. Additionally, saturation patrols were employed in the surrounding areas to combat impaired driving related fatal and serious injury crashes.
A total of 345 vehicles were checked during the course of the checkpoint. One vehicle was diverted to check for potential alcohol and drug impairment.
In addition to the checkpoint, saturation patrols were conducted of the surrounding area, which resulted in 35 traffic stops, with one OVI arrest.
